My Reflection

This is my predictions for the novel The Moa Cave, this is the novel we’re reading for term 2. I found the work easy as I can get clues from the cover, title and blurb. My next step is to us other peoples experiences and use prior knowledge to predict.

Relate To Characters

 My Reflection

I am learning to relate to the characters in the text. Some characters traits were easy to find.
Some were more tricky to find. I need to improve on reading carefully to find the information .
My next step is to  think about characters  in stories where there are more than two characters. I could try to compare characters.

Extending Knowledge Of Vocabulary

My Reflection
I am learning to extend my knowledge of new vocabulary . I can look up new words in the dictionary.
 It helped when I read the word in a sentence . Next I will continue to find the meaning of new words.

My Reflection
We have been learning to identify and use different features in a text. We read a story about horses . I used the contents page and index to find information about horses My next step is to read more non-fiction books and use the contents page and index to find  information.

I have been leaning to skim and scam non-fiction texts to find and summarise information. We read a story about the white tail spiders. We had to find facts from the texts and summarise them. I found this easy because I've already readied before. My next step is to find smarter ideas about skim and scam.

My reflection

I have been learning to find and summarise information in non-fiction texts.  I found this piece of work tricky because summarising things and finding information.  My next step is to make sure I summarising the information using my own word.

I have lead to chunk words. I found it easy because I learned to chunk word in the middle of 2 consonants.

I am learning to discuss characters by identifying traits.  My next steps are to find evidence from the story.

Discussing the Plot

I learned about describing the plot and fiction text and fiction is when it is pretend a story.  It has people that are not in real life.  Sometimes fiction texts look so hard but if I try it is not hard.

I am learning to retell a story. We read The New Baby. I made this picture in Kidpix. I can say what happened in the story. Retelling is easy for me!

Punctuation

Root words and their endings

I circled the normal words in blue and the endings in red. This was tricky for me because I am only just learning this and I needed Mrs Bovill's help to do it. 

Rhyming strings

We are learning to make a rhyming string. We have read lots of Dr Seuss books and listened for lots of rhyming words. Our favourite story was the ‘Cat in the Hat’. We wrote down some words that rhymed with cat.  

"I had to think of words that rhymed. I chose six words - cat, hat, mat, sat, fat and rat. This is the 'at' word family. This is easy peasy for me."

End sounds

I am learning to use the beginning and end sounds to help me read new words. 

"I had to put a peg on the end sound. The end sound is 't'. I chose the cat."
